The latest intake of Nottinghamshire Police officers, Cohort IP7AA and IP7AB, were sworn into their new roles at a special open air ceremony on Monday afternoon (30 March 2020).

As advised by the government following the Coronavirus outbreak, the ceremony wasn't attended by the friends and family of the new police constables, but the event was filmed which will be shared so they don’t miss the occasion.

The officers read their attestation sheet, receive their powers and sign their declaration of service.

The latest cohort includes former Special Constables, PCSOs, Community Protection Officers, armed force, a chef, Prison Officers, mental health workers and NHS staff.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said : "It is even more important than ever to continue to bring new officers into the force.

"I'd like to thank the family and friends of the cohort, who sadly couldn't be there to witness the ceremony. I'm sure they will understand why they couldn't be present, but I can assure you that you would have been have very proud of them all.

“The new officers will be given self-defence and first aid training and we’ll have them out with our patrols as quickly as we can. The recruitment team and training staff have done a great job in very challenging circumstances.”

The force is continuing with its recruitment programme despite Coronavirus, as this could be a life-line to those who may have just been laid off from other careers .
