Crime figures for Mansfield on the up

Police.co.uk have released the latest crime figures for the town centre for November 2015.

These figures show a rise from October 2015 when only 216 offences were committed.

Nottinghamshire’s chief constable, Chris Eyre, said: “I am extremely proud to be the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police, a force which prides itself on delivering the highest possible standard of service to you.”

Leeming Street was a hot spot for crime where 16 offences took place during the one-month period.

Across the town centre there were 54 acts of anti-social behaviour and 53 crimes of violence and sexual offences.

Police were called out 34 times to deal with shoplifters and four times over possession of a weapon.

There were 12 times when the force had to tackle drug issues and seven times for criminal damage and arson.

Other crimes included robbery, bike theft, theft from a person and vehicle crime.

Public order crimes were at 10 offences and there were eight burglaries in the 30-day period.

Nottinghamshire Police covers a population of 1.12 million, and during its second inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary the extent to which the force is efficient at keeping people safe and reducing crime was rated as good.

However, it reported that Nottinghamshire Constabulary requires improvement at protecting from harm those who are vulnerable, and supporting victims.
