Crafters donate takings to charity

Owners of the Eastwood craft workshops hosted a community event to raise money for charity.

Each shop donated all, or part of, their takings to their chosen charity for the day on July 25.

There was entertainment such as face painting, a circus skills workshop and rag rug making.

Parnhams Gallery and The Wood Gallery raised money for Alzheimers Research, The White Peacock Tea Room raised money for Cats Protection, The Sewing Parlour raised money for The Royal British Legion, Love Stationary for MS Research, Not Just Crafty for Breathe Easy, Firetop Mountain for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, Fresh Hair was raising for the 1st Selston Scouts and Glints raised money for the regional Air Ambulance.

Sarah Taylor who runs Firetop Mountain said: “We are working very hard to create events for Eastwood to promote the craft workshop area and also Eastwood as a whole.

“We care about this community, hence our commitment to regular events.”

The next event the group have organised is on September 5 and is part of the new DH Lawrence Festival of Culture.

Join the crafters for a trip back in time and enter a courtyard full of Victorian games and crafts in Scargill Walk between 10am and 2pm.
