County jobs set for Civic Centre move

More than 350 Nottinghamshire County Council jobs could be relocated to Mansfield under a £1.5 million proposal for the town’s Civic Centre.

Mansfield District Council is negotiating a deal with the county council which could see a total 356 employees relocated to the Lindhurst Suite and the ground floor of the Civic Centre over two years.

A full meeting of the district council on Tuesday was told early stage negotiations were taking place for the Lindhurst Suite to be leased to the county council for an initial relocation of 75 employees from its Multi Agency Support Hub (MASH) in April 2015 - with additional accommodation on the ground floor of the Chesterfield Road South premises in 2017.

Coun Joyce Bosnjak said: “It would bring more services into the Mansfield area for our people, with two local authorities working closer together for a lot of the people we represent.”

The county council’s lease on its current accommodation at Mercury House at Annesley is due to end in May 2017, which will require a further transfer of employees

Councillors unanimously approved that the district council’s 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 capital programmes include £1,500,000 for alterations to the Civic Centre.
