County councillor calls for '˜a permanent solution' to repair roads and pavements

A county councillor for Jacksdale, Selston and Underwood, has been working with residents to get better technology to repair roads and pavements.

Coun David Martin, who is pictured with resident, Arnie Hankin, said: “I appreciate that the council needs a quick fix to make roads safer. What we need to see though is a permanent solution as any quick fix cannot always be cost effective.

“In the Ashfield District, we have forced the council to spend £1,000,000 extra for the next four years on our highways and pavements. This money is not going to go far if the council have to come out multiple times to sort out problems in the same places. I am pleased that the council have admitted their failings and are looking to invest in new technologies to ensure a better job is done.”
