Council’s Plan your own funeral service

Nottinghamshire residents are being offered the chance to design and record their own funeral service.

The ‘living eulogy’ initiative assists people who wish to plan ahead and have their funeral wishes recorded and archived through the Council’s registration service.

The service is as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Dying Matter’s Week, starting on 12th May.

Hazel Tait from the Council’s registration service said: “Death can be a social taboo, so Dying Matters Week encourages people to talk, plan and make arrangements for the end of life before it’s too late.

“Our service allows people to record their wishes on any aspects of their funeral to reduce the stress for family members who may not be clear on how they would like to mark the end of their life.

“Funerals should be a celebration of a person’s life and we can incorporate humour and a lighter approach to the ceremonies.”
