Mansfield District Council have announced that a new political group on Mansfield District Council called Mansfield South Independent Group
Councillor Steve Garner and Councillor Andy Sissons have resigned from Mansfield Independent Forum.

Mansfield District Council have announced that with effect from today (October 5), the councillors have formed a new political group on Mansfield District Council called Mansfield South Independent Group.

Councillor Garner is the leader of that group.

This change will result in a review of the political balance of the allocation of seats on committees, which will be considered at the next Full Council meeting on November 20.

Councillor Martin Wright has also resigned as the Leader of the Mansfield Independent Forum and his duties will be performed by Councillor Mick Barton until a new Leader is appointed.

The new political composition of the council is:

Mansfield Independent Forum: 17 (including the Executive Mayor)

Labour: 17

Mansfield South Independent Group: 2

Unaligned: 1
