Council to decide on plans for 14 flats

The council’s planning committee is expected to give the green light to the development on land adjacent to The Blue Bell on Carsic Lane when it meets on Thursday, subject to developer contributions.

The application by Ainsworth Homelife Supported Accomodation Ltd is for a two storey apartment block consisting of 14 apartments for supported living use (class 3b).

It says the scheme is intended to allow vulnerable adults with learning difficulties and/or physical difficulties to live independently but with a shared level of supportive care provided when necessary.

The site lies on the eastern side of Carsic Lane and is currently used as a public car park.

The apartments will be social housing managed by a registered provider SocialLandlord for tenants identified by Nottinghamshire County Council Adult Services and the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.

It will provide bespoke, specially designed accessible accommodation for people with identified disabilities and/or for adults who require care or support to live independently in their own home.

A number of the properties are wheelchair accessible so benefits those with physical disabilities and restricted mobility.

The on-site care is to be provided by ‘Making Space’ – Health & Social Care Services, a national charity and adult health and social care provider selected by Nottinghamshire County Council Adult Services.

A public realm contribution of £32,000 would be allocated across projects in line with the adopted Sutton Locality Plan, such as improvements to Sutton Lawn -the nearest open space, Low Street and Portland Square.
