Ashfield District Council has announced a £500,000 plan to refurbish nine empty properties on a Kirkby estate plagued by crime and anti-social behaviour.
The council is due tonight to approve plans to bring the properties on Warwick Close in the Coxmoor Estate back into use.
The street has had a bad reputation for years but people living on the Coxmoor Estate say a lot of their problems with crime and anti-social behaviour are because of the empty buildings.
Nine of the 16 houses are boarded up and have been empty for years.
The plans will be put to a meeting of Ashfield District Council’s Cabinet this evening.
