ANTICIPATION is building towards this year’s Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest competition as organisers prepare to invite entries.
Girls between the age of 17 and 24 are being urged to sign up to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Alicia Caley, who is now preparing to challenge for the Miss England title this weekend.
Miss Mansfield and Sherwood is organised by Trish Mapletoft, a winner in 1989 and Miss England runner-up.
She said: “It’s all about creating postive role models.
“I believe Mansfield is an up-and-coming town, I’m born and bred in Mansfield and we have some fantastic talent and great youth in the town.
“We had 37 entries last year and I’m hoping we can get 40 this time, we’ve had interest already.
“It’s a huge effort and organising it is an all year round job.
“We start it in June and we have to have the 12 finalists by September ready for the grand final in October.”
Application forms will be available from next week, and public votes will help decide who makes the final 12.
The grand final will be held at the John Fretwell Centre on Saturday, 27th October.
