Consultation over makeover

Ashfield District Council is beginning a series of consultation events with local traders, stakeholders and the general public over a number proposals designed to reinvigorate Sutton Town Centre.

In the first phase, the Council is proposing to move the outdoor market from its existing location to Portland Square, using demountable stalls which will be removed on non-market days.

This will allow for the existing outdoor market site to be transformed into a short stay car park, providing the opportunity for the car park on New Street to be amended allowing for long-stay parking within the town centre.
