Conmen target residents in Mansfield area

police arewarning of residents to beware of rogue callers after a pensioner was conned out of a large amount of money.

Between 9 am and 10.15 am on Monday 9th April an elderly resident on Oaktree Drive in Bilsthorpe was visited at home by a man claiming to be from a road surfacing company.

The man asked if she could contribute any money towards the work that had been completed on the street by the council. A large amount of money was handed over.

The man is described as white 5”9 tall of average build, wearing dark clothing.

Police say another witness recalled another witness recalls seeing a man wearing a high-viz vest on the street at the time of the offence.

On the same day at 10.15 am on Church Road in Clipstone a man visited a property stating that he had been sent by the landlord to check the gas.

The man was not allowed in to the property. The landlord was contacted who confirmed this was not the case.

This man is described as white aged between 25-27 years, skinny build, stubble on his face. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a black beanie hat. He left in a blue BMW 1series (55 plate).
