Concerns have been raised by MP Ben Bradley as a bank in Warsop is set to close after customers 'use it less'.

Lloyds bank has said one of the reasons it will close the branch on Sherwood Street in November is that transactions at the branch are 12 per cent quieter than a year ago.

A spokesman from the bank said: “We have made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often. In addition the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank."

The MP has since communicated with the bank and raised concerns after several residents contact him.

He said: “I had several Warsop residents contact me about the closure, so I wrote to Lloyds bank to outline my concerns. They have since replied to me, and unfortunately, they have explained that very few people actually use the branch anymore, so it’s been a commercial decision to close the building.”

“As the local Member of Parliament, I can’t actually force them to change their minds and keep the branch open, so unfortunately on this occasion it does look like the branch will be closing.”

“Lloyds have stressed to me that Warsop customers will still be able to access their banking services via the local Post Office.”
