Company wins innovation award for '˜Griplock' socks

SockMine, the technical sports sock brand from Sutton company Roy Lowe & Sons Ltd, have been commended for the launch of their latest blister reducing technology, GripLock.

The brand offers a vast range of specialised socks designed for running, cycling, skiing, horse riding and workwear to name a few.

Ben Lowe, from the company, said: “We recently exhibited at Meet the Manufacturer, run by Make It British; a strongly patriotic campaign dedicated to supporting British manufacturing.

“Sporting our signature sequined suits, we were campaigning in our own way; spreading the word as far as we could about our finely crafted socks.

“As part of the show, we pitched our GripLock technology to an audience and a panel of judges in an effort to win the Innovation Accelerator award, and we won.”

The principle behind the GripLock technology is simple: the sock sticks to your foot so that there is no friction between your skin and your sock, hence no irritation that causes blisters. The technology is deployed into the inherent properties of the sock fabric, which follows the exact contours of the foot for maximum contact area.

Ben added: “We are proud and honoured to have received such an award.

“On a personal level, the GripLock socks have been working fantastically in my training for my half marathon.”
