We purchased flowering bird friendly hedging approved by the RSPB for their ability to provide the basic need of a huge variety of wildlife, create dense foliage for shelter and nesting and an attractiveness to insects on which birds feed.

The hedging pack is grown completely peat free to meet the RSPB’s conservation requirements.

Gill Grievson, Greenwood Project Officer said: “The Greenwood Team is committed to supporting groups to plant trees and hedging in their community and getting people involved is a great way of developing interest and developing a long term commitment to the local area.”

The school’s head teacher Jayne Gibbons commented: “Applying for the grant was easy, the Greenwood Team gave us lots of advice about what we could purchase and information on planting and aftercare.”
