A judge told a heroin addict from Mansfield that he could face jail if he doesn’t get clean.
Andrew Wyatt, 34, of Rhodes Walk, was sentenced at Derby Crown Court for three charges of possession of heroin. He was found guilty at an earlier trial.
Judge John Burgess sentenced him to a 12 month community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement.
Judge Burgess asked Wyatt if it was correct that he wanted to quit drugs, to which he replied he did.
Mr Burgess said: “This is your opportunity to change your life because you are not only going to get support but some kind of discipline all aimed at getting you off heroin.
“The point of it is that someone will monitor your progress over the next 12 months. I really hope this works because if you breach this order you could be re-sentecned and that could mean prison. You understand what will happen if you breach that order.”
