Chairman of the 50 Plus Club, Mr Norman Broadbelt, was bingo caller and opened Thursday week’s meeting attended by 36 members. Mesdames M. Hayes, M. Hoyland and S. Key and Messrs R. Birkin, T. Rowe and A. Key did kitchen duties. Mrs B. Waring helped with bingo, with Mrs M. Gwynn and Mrs Hoyland, and sold tickets, with Mrs J. Boyer and Mr Birkin. Raffle winner was Mrs J. Milner. Birthday greetings were sung to Mrs B. Bradford and Mrs R. Renshaw. Mrs Renshaw made a donation to the club in lieu of refreshments.
St Andrew’s Church
Reader John Whitbread les Sunday week’s early Morning Prayer. The Rev Angels Smythe celebrated sung parish communion assisted by John Whitbread. Organist was John Dunn. Averil Alison and Charlotte Keeling gave Bible readings and Pam Shaw led prayers. Pam and Graham Clarke were in the ministry team and Sue and Richard Mountain were stewards. Averil Alison and Sheila Shepherd served refreshments. Last Monday week there was a Little Fishes Toddlers’ Group activity session and on Thursday week, a 20-minute prayer period.
On Saturday week Pastor Colin Tilley, of Aspley Pentecostal Church, and the Minister, the Rev Alan Boyd, led a healing service. Denise Matters played the clavinova and Eileen Lawrence gave a PowerPoint presentation. Brenda Goldsmith gave a reading and Kathleen Bramwell led prayers. The minister led Sunday week’s all-age service, celebrated Holy Communion and baptised Susan and Brian Mosley’s son, Brody Roy Aubrey John. Vestry steward Kathleen Bramwell opened and closed the service. Door stewards were Len and Margaret Jones. Di Smith operated the clavinova and Doris Taylor gave a PowerPoint presentation and manned the sound mixer desk. Eileen Lawrence supervised children’s activity tables. Cradle roll secretary Sheila Clarke assisted with the baptism and vestry steward Stuart Bramwell assisted with communion. Communion stewards were Margery Pierpoint and Mary Hemsley. Junior church members assisted the vestry stewards with the offertory. Howard and Eileen Lawrence served refreshments.
At Healdswood Community Centre vice-chairman Mr Jim Clarke opened Monday week’s meeting attended by 26 members. He and Mrs M. Wallace were bingo callers. Mrs S. Clarke was raffle winner. Mesdames M. Briggs, J. Hague, M. Hoyland and M. Gwynn sold tickets. Mrs Hague and Mrs R. White did kitchen duties.
Busy Bees Buggy Club
Twelve pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended yesterday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre. Activities included colouring, play dough modelling and play with a tunnel and a slide.
Members went to Playmania, Mansfield, on Monday week with leaders Catherine Willis, Michelle Niblett and Natalie Flint.
