On Thursday week vice-chairman Mr Jim Clarke opened 50 Plus Club’s meeting attended by 37 members. Ticket sellers were Mesdames J. Boyer, B. Waring and M. Marchant and Mr R. Birkin and bingo caller was Mr Clarke. Mrs S. Clarke and raffle winner Mrs M. Hoyland served teas and Messrs A. Key, Birkin, T. Rowe and Clarke did kitchen duties. Mesdames M. Gwynn, Hoyland, Marchant and Waring and Mr Birkin assisted with bingo.
Busy Bees Buggy Club
At Anchor Centre 10 pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended last Tuesday week’s meeting and 12 accompanied children attended Thursday week’s meeting.
The Rev George Newell conducted Sunday week’s service. Di Smith operated the clavinova and Doris Taylor manned the sound mixer desk. Sandra Burton gave a PowerPoint presentation. Door stewards were Jean Hutson and Sheila Clarke and vestry stewards Eileen and Howard Lawrence took the offertory with Shannon and Megan Jones. Worship leader Brenda Goldsmith opened the service and Joan Hollingsworth and Len Jones gave Bible readings. Anne and John Baines led junior church. Daphne Thorpe and Margaret Rutledge served refreshments.
St Andrew’s Church
There was a Little Fishes Toddlers’ Group activity session last Monday week. On Thursday week there was 20-minutes of prayer for the church’s mission. Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, celebrated Sunday week’s early said Holy Communion. Reader Graham Clarke led morning worship and the Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, gave an address. Organist John Dunn also led prayers. Ian Hallam, Janet Pursglove and Pam Clarke gave Bible readings. Celia Kellett and Sharon Hallam were in the ministry team and Elaine Hoult and Gill Smith were stewards. Junior church members and leaders met at the church hall where refreshments were served after the service. The vicar baptised Samuel Cope, Lilly Hall and Freya Brown at a midday service.
At Healdswood Community Centre chairman Mr David Franks opened Monday week’s meeting attended by 30 members. Weekly raffle winner was Mrs J. Turton and a special raffle raised £47.50 for club funds. Mesdames M. Gwynn, M. Hoyland, J. Hague and R. White did kitchen duties for a pie and peas meal. Ticket sellers Mr Franks and Mrs P. Patton also assisted with bingo. Birthday greetings were sent to Mrs M. Harvey.
G Force Line Dancing
At Anchor Centre at yesterday week’s meeting Gaye Teather taught a dance she had learnt at a recent weekend at Chichester, West Sussex.
