ST Andrew’s Church: There was a Little Fishes Toddlers’ Group activity period last Monday week. Thursday week’s prayer meeting for the mission of the church included prayers for Passing On Hope Project, Vine Tree Shop, Stanton Hill, and church organisations. The Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, conducted the weddings of Steve Chamberlain and Chrissy Hemmings, and Andrew Ashmore and Louise Cudworth on Saturday week. John Dunn was organist. Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, celebrated Sunday week’s early said Holy Communion and sung parish communion. At the later service Graham Clarke assisted, John Dunn was organist and the vicar played guitar. Joyce Whetton, Karen Bradshaw and John Crafts gave Bible readings and Pam Clarke led prayers. Jane Crafts and Sheila Shepherd were in the ministry team. Stewards were Martyn and June Bowler. Joan Hufton, Karen Bradshaw and Marilyn Turner served refreshments.

Busy Bees Buggy Club: At Anchor Centre 11 pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended Thursday week’s meeting. Activities included riding tricycles, craftwork and play with a slide, a trampoline, dolls and soft toys. SureStart staff provided an activity at yesterday week’s meeting attended by 11 accompanied pre-school children. Annabelle Badhams and her grandmother, Hilary, were welcomed.

Skegby Guides: United Nations’ International Day of Peace was the theme of Wednesday week’s meeting at Quarrydale School, Sutton. Leaders were Erika Marshall and Pam and Bethany Peake.

Skegby Brownies: At Monday week’s meeting at Quarrydale School, Sutton, activities about ducks included races, decorating rubber ducks and making clay ones. Leaders were Catherine Willis and Anne Bagley.

Skegby Rainbows: Star of the week awards went to Brooke Riley and Emily Evans at Monday week’s meeting. Brooke Butler, Emily Hyder, Louise Richardson and Isabel Harris were given weekly awards. Activities were about story books and members made figure puppets. Birthday greetings were given to Noa Arapi and Georgia Randall. There was a leaving party for Amy Mallinson, Piper Owen and Lucy Peake, and a diamond jubilee badge was given to Mrs Owen for her help. New members Louise Richardson, Emily Hyder, Ellie Mai Parsons, Isabel Harris and Hanna and Mary Smith were welcomed. Leaders Pam, Jo and Bethany Peak and Jamie Brelsford were assisted by Guide Charlotte Peake.

G Force Line Dancing Class: At yesterday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre members celebrated Mick Teather’s birthday and the ruby weddings of Sonia and Stuart Stone and Gaye and Mick Teather.

Beechwood Court 50 Plus Club: Vice-chairman Mr Jim Clarke was bingo caller and opened Thursday week’s meeting attended by 32 members. Mrs M. Hoyland celebrated her birthday and served refreshments with Mrs S. Key and Mrs S. Clarke. Raffle winner Mrs J. Boyer sold tickets with Mrs Key and Mrs R. Stones. Mrs M. Gwynn, Mr Clarke and Mr A. Key did kitchen duties. Mesdames Gwynn, Hoyland, Key and Renshaw assisted with bingo.

Methodist Church: The Minister, the Rev Alan Boyd, conducted Sunday week’s service, celebrated communion and played guitar. Door stewards were Len and Margaret Jones and vestry stewards Trevor and Brenda Johnson took the offertory. Doris Taylor manned the sound mixer desk and Di Smith operated the clavinova. Arnie Kells gave a PowerPoint presentation. Kathleen Bramwell opened the service and led intercessions and Noreen Kells gave a Bible reading. Rita Kirkwood and Brenda Goldsmith were communion stewards and Brenda Johnson assisted at communion. Noreen and Arnie Kells and Sandra Burton served refreshments. At Anchor Centre yesterday week members of word game club played My Word.

Monday Club: At Healdswood Community Centre vice-chairman Mr Jim Clarke opened Monday week’s meeting, attended by 29 members including new one Mrs J. Jones. Mrs J. Hague and Mrs R. White did kitchen duties. Bingo callers Mr Clarke and Mrs M. Wallace were assisted by Mrs P. Patton and Mrs J. Turner. Raffle winner as Mrs F. Else and ticket seller was Mrs Turner.
