4th Rainworth Rainbows

The Rainbows met at SS Simon and Jude’s Church on Friday evening and made fridge magnets and Christmas cards and talked about their forthcoming Christmas party before playing games. They then visited Rainworth Methodist church for their Christingle service.

St George’s RC Church

Christmas week mass was led by Fr Benedict Bullem Abuo with assistance at the Altar from Andrew Storey, Andrew Frettingham, Peter Frettingham and Jordon Boulton. There were readings from Mark Frettingham and Isabel Thompson. Eucharistic Ministers were Marion Musgrove, John Scanlon and Andrew Storey. The offertory bearers were Jackie Massey, Colin Massey, Malachi Fagan, John Scanlon, John Storey, and Mark Frettingham.

Sunday week’s mass was also led by Fr Benedict Bullem Abuo, with assistance at the altar from Andrew Storey and Andrew Frettingham. Eucharistic Ministers were John Scanlon, and Andrew Storey.

Methodist Church

On Tuesday evening, the Slimming world group met and on Wednesday morning the Rainworth Artist group also held its meeting. On Friday evening, the Christingle service with the uniformed groups of Rainbows’ Brownies attended.

Led by Alan Darlington and the Rev David Greenwood with Margaret Toon at the organ. Refreshments were served by the Brownies after the service. Sunday morning’s service was led by Brenda Witham, with the Sunday school group led by Vanessa Lewin and Alan Mosley participating. Christine Daniel was the Welcome Steward and flowers decorating the church were donated in memory of Mrs Sales.

Church members later visited Farnsfield for their evening Gift service.

SS Simon and Jude’s

Christmas week saw morning prayer’ services were held on Tuesday and Thursday and, on Thursday morning, the Citizens Advice Bureau attended and the Ladybird toddler group also took place. The Healthy Living group got together in the afternoon and later Vestry hour was held in evening.

The weekly coffee shops were held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.

The service on Christmas Eve was led by the Rev Hazel Robinson and Stephanie Smart. There was a collection in aid of the Children’s society. Later Midnight mass was led by the Rev Hazel Robinson. A joint benefice Christmas day service with St Mary’s church, Blidworth was also led by the Rev’d Robinson.
