At their meeting at SS Simon and Jude’s on Friday week Rainbows completed a Bonfire picture using chalk and black paper. They also sang songs accompanying themselves on percussion instruments. They enjoyed skipping using a long rope and two young leaders Becky and Victoria, both received their First Response certificate
On Friday week 3rd and 4th Brownies met together and played games and watched fireworks. 3rd Brownies presented Snowey with some flowers and chocolates to celebrate her completing her leadership qualification.
St George’s RC Church
Andrew Frettingham was at the altar assisting Father Christopher Thomas with Mass on Sunday morning. There were readings from Jake Winterton, Andrew Frettingham and Mark Frettingham and Jackie Massey, Malachi Fagan, Colin Massey, Cyril Murphy, Mark Frettingham, Paul Allsop and Frances Allsop were Offertory bearers and John Scanlon, Angela Storey and Cyril Murphy were Eucharistic Ministers.
The Slimming World group met on the Tuesday evening and the Rainworth Artist group held their regular meeting on Wednesday morning. On Thursday evening Judith and Mick Daykin hosted the Bible study and fellowship evening. On Friday evening the uniformed groups recommenced their meetings. On Saturday morning the Mansfield artist group met and also on Saturday morning the coffee shop was also open for refreshments. Sunday morning’s ‘All Age Worship’ service was taken by Alan Mosley and Judith Daykin with David Bancroft Steele and Ann Adeniji assisting. Margaret Toon played the organ during the service. Christine Daniel was the welcome steward and flowers decorating the church were donated by the family in memory of Mr and Mrs Fuller. Following the service everyone enjoyed refreshments in the hall. Church members visited Blidworth for their Sunday evening section service.
St Simon and Jude’s
Morning Prayer services were held on Tuesday and Thursday and on Thursday morning the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Ladybird toddler group met. The Healthy Living group got together in the afternoon and Vestry hour was held in evening led by the Marilyn Brown and the Rev’d Clare Tyack. The art group met on Friday afternoon and Rainbows, Guides, Brownies meeting in the evening. The weekly Coffee shops were held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. ‘All age’ family worship for ‘All Saints day’ on Sunday was led by the Rev Hazel Robinson and Marilyn Brown with Gordon Foster playing the organ. The special afternoon Memorial service was well attended and led by the Rev’d Robinson, The Rev’d Tyack and Marilyn Brown.
The Bonfire Night Family Disco was a success with families enjoying a free disco following the firework display on the Rainworth Football Ground.
