The Rev Wendy Patchell led Sunday week’s Holy Communion with healing prayers. Ann Hilton and Donna Wright both read. Marilyn and David Ball administered the chalice. Prayers were by Sandra Smith. Alan and Joan Truman were sidesmen. Ann Hilton and Pat Stafford served morning coffee. The vicar led evening prayers. Simon Hilton and Janet Baldwin were readers. Peter Stafford read prayers.

Church of Christ

David Wilson led the morning meeting on Sunday week. Geoff Ellis read from the Old Testament. The New Testament reader was Eric Faulks. Dennis Faulks served communion and also spoke at the evening meeting led by Geoff Sheldon.

Our Lady RC Church

Sunday week’s mass was by Fr F. Higgins. Delia McGibbon was reader. Helen Bevan. Jerry Herrington, David Shipley, Dennis O’Neil and Andrew O’Mara-Winson served communion. John Fejfer and Rex Clarke took the collection. The offertory procession members were Leia Pye, Delia McGibbon, Jim Turton, Retika Menon, Charles Nottingham and Caelin Riyadi. Maranatha played the music. Cath Moulton and Jerry Herrington served coffee for parish funds.

7Cs Christian F’ship

David Holloway and Mark Roxburgh led worship on Sunday week. The faith builder session was led by Tracy Buxton. Pastor Maurice England and Karen Hemmingray served communion.. The address was given by Glenys Holloway. A midweek social was held on Tuesday week.

Trinity Methodist

Coffee bar was open from Monday to Friday week, inclusive. Forget Me Not dementia group met on Monday week, 3rd Brownies met in the evening. A DVD Fitness class was also held. Kirkby Churches Together held early prayers on Tuesday week. The Rev Mick Dilley chaired two meetings, a stewards’ meeting in the morning and Church Council meeting later in the day. Sure Start Messy Play also met. John Whitehead led the Tuesday Group continuing a Lent discussion. A Crochet class meets 12.03- 2.30pm new members welcome. Framework held an advice session on Wednesday week. The Flower Arrangers met in the afternoon. Thursday week’s Mother and Toddler Group was followed by the Lunch Club and Open Hands Group which watched a film. Sandra Butler of Scope addressed the Ladies Group in the evening. On Friday week the Stroke Association met and Churches Together held prayers before healing in the street. John Whitehead led Sunday week’s Lent service. John Hickling was church steward. The door steward was Jean Whitehead. Margaret Hensby served morning coffee in aid of the Stroke Association.

Evergreens

The group served lunches on Monday week. Len Fox entertained on the organ. Carpet bowls was played on Tuesday week. Joan Peel and Walter Jones provided the music of the week’s line and sequences dances.

Spiritualist Church

Dean Kenyon gave Saturday week’s demonstration of ‘table tipping’. John and Diane Gent led Sunday week’s divine service chaired by Lynda Sills. Janet Julian chaired Monday week’s demonstration evening given by Paul Hayes. Gary Price and Janet Julian then delivered healing. The awareness group met on Tuesday week led by committee members.

Rotary

President John McEwen welcomed Rotn Paul Richardson, who brought greetings from the Sutton in Ashfield Club. Rotn Karl White previewed the wine tasting evening at Ann et Vin Newark. President-elect Roger Pursey announced that two young gymnasts will be present at the 8th April meeting to receive a cheque for their sponsorship by the club. Prospective associate members would also be present. Rotn Paul Richardson then spoke on his career in the local media. Describing encounters with Winston Churchill’s grandson and Hollywood star Jane Mansfield. He noted the decline in local media involvement with ownership being controlled by national organisations. Rotn Ron Walker gave the vote of thanks.

Forest St Baptist

Art and Keep fit groups met on Tuesday week. The Lent course met on Wednesday week. Representatives from the church attended the May Hunt Retreat day at Willesley Castle. On Sunday week, the Rev Jackie McKenna led the morning service Lyn Ramsden was reader. Eric McKenna gave examples of healing power. John and Lyn Hardy served morning coffee. A Messy Church session was held in the afternoon. Last Monday, the Ladies Fellowship continued rehearsing for their planned weekend.

3rd Brownies

Led by Wendy Osborne assisted by Abbi Grundy had a Mother’s Day craft session making cards and posies on Monday week. Brownies also played games and ended the meeting with Brownie Bells.

St Thomas’ Church

Holy Communion was taken on Wednesday week followed by the Lent Study Group and a shared parish lunch before the Carers and Toddlers drop in session was held. The vicar manned the parish office in the evening The Mothers’ Union held a paper evening on Friday week. Sunday week’s family communion was taken by the vicar Reader Chris Manning assisted and gave the address. Readings and prayers were by Alan and Barbara dykes. The pianist was Stuart Bradshaw. Children’s church was by Sarah Clarke, Pauline /Howlett and Dyan Dixon. The elements were presented by Katherine Blasdale and Joan Murray. John Cook and John Walker presented the chalice. Jim Freya Bushell were the stewards. The vicar led the evening Lent course.

1st Guides

The group had a Mother’s Day craft session making chocolate gifts and cards. New recruits studied the Guide Promise while seniors prepared for the international selection day to be held at the Guide camp site at Elton, nearGrantham. Leaders were Clair and Ann Sharman and Elaine Britnell.
