Meadow, New Road

On Monday week the meeting was opened by Mrs M. Brailsford. Mrs M. Wood, Mrs R. Dodsworth and Mrs J. Pitt served refreshments. Tickets were sold by Mrs J. Dodsworth and she called the bingo. A quiz was organised Mrs M. Cooper and called by Mrs Brailsford. The winners were Mrs T. Jukes, V. Greaves, and Mr E. Buchanon. Bingo winners were Mesdames B. Poyser, M. Simpson, K. White, M. Buchanon, J. Smith, P. Hutton, J. Pitt, M. Wood, T. Jukes, M. Brailsford and Mr E. Buchanon. Raffle winners were Mesdames K. White, J. Marklew, J. Smith, M. Simpson, T. Jukes, and Messrs E. Ufton and H. Alcock. Members celebrated the birthdays of Joyce Marklew and Sue Cutts.

St Andrew’s Church

Talk and Tea sessions will take place on Mondays 15th Oct, 19th Nov, 17th Dec, 3-4pm. Everyone is to invited for a chat and a cuppa. Suggested donation for refreshments £1, for information contact the Rev Hazel Robinson 475135. On Saturday the Bric a Brac and 200 club draw raised £280 for church funds. A united benefice service for Rainworth and Blidworth was held on Sunday morning led by the Rev Clare Tyack who gave a sermon. Stephanie Smart assisted. There were readings from the Old Testament by Gordon Foster who played the organ and readings from the New Testament from Angela Penny.

St Mary’s Church

Members from the church attended a united Benefice service for Blidworth and Rainworth at St Andrew’s, Blidworth on Sunday. The Beacon project, aids the homeless and vulnerable from Mansfield, Ashfield and surrounding areas and the church has appealed to local people to donate tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, tinned and packet soup, meat, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, rice pudding, jams and biscuits etc. Bring them to church in time to make a display for the Harvest services, before they are given to the project. There are boxes at the back of the churches for donations.

Methodist Church

Sunday’s Harvest Festival began in the morning with all age worship by the Rev David Greenwood. Following the service everyone there was a Faith lunch. In the evening the Harvest Festival continued with a section service and other Methodist churches attended. It was taken by Angela Pothecary with readings from Barbara Jukes and Bill Richards.
