Community day set to draw in crowds

Hopes are high that Hucknall families will show whole-hearted support for a pioneering ‘Community Day’ to be held in the town.

The event, organised jointly by Churches Together and Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group (HTRG), will take place at Hucknall Titchfield Park on Saturday 16th August from noon until 4pm.

The Rev Sergiy Diduk, curate at Hucknall Parish Church, said: “The main aim is to provide a summer attraction for the wider community in the town.

“We are planning to stage it on the part of the park where there the playground and picnic area are located.

“Despite the churches’ involvement, there will be no sermons or preaching. The accent will be very much on sport and fun.

“The programme will include races, climbing, music, face painting, a bouncy castle and fairground rides, and there will be a gazebo information point.”

Sergiy said it was envisaged that the ‘Community Day’ would be on a fairly modest scale for the first year and be built up in future years.

HTRG chairman Ken Robinson said: “This is a chance for people of Hucknall to get involved in something the whole family can enjoy.”
