COLUMN: Become a pillar of support at theatre

Pillars of Support aims to raise the vital funds needed for improving the lighting at our beautiful venue and in turn, enhance the viewing experience for you, our customers.

Do you attend Mansfield Palace Theatre? Would you like to offer support in addition to being in the audience? Then why not become a Pillar of Support for your local theatre?

We are offering you the chance to have your name on our Supporters’ Wall in the Palace Theatre foyer. This is a unique opportunity to have your name displayed legally on an historic building’s wall!

Mansfield Palace Theatre is one of the town’s oldest entertainment venues and we need your help to preserve it for future generations to enjoy as much as we do. I was pleased that during a recent meeting with our local amateur groups who use the palace stage regularly, the initiative was well-received. I hope you see the value of this scheme, which is priceless in terms of leaving a lasting legacy for others to enjoy the venue, as either performers or attendees.

The wall will be erected during our summer maintenance period and become the main focal point in the venue for visitors during our busy winter season. Speaking of which, don’t forget Peter Pan pantomime tickets are already flying out of the door (see what I did there?) Look out for casting news in the Chad very soon!

For just £100 (no VAT, which means no business names), you will be allocated a 175mm x 50mm space, which will be displayed on the theatre’s wall for ten years. There can be a maximum of 36 characters (including spaces) across two lines.

My heartfelt thanks in advance for supporting Mansfield Palace Theatre in its bid to purchase time-saving LED units, modern Tungsten lamp Fresnels and computerised moving lights – all for the benefit of the many people within our community who enjoy the venue, from either the stage, or the stalls.

To end my column, I thought I’d tell you what my role of Cultural services manager entails. I have responsibility for the artistic, financial and general management of the theatre as well as Mansfield Museum’s curatorial staff. The best part of my job is being able to book shows that entertain both a broad cross-section of the public and those with more individual preferences. There is nothing better than knowing that you have brought a smile to somebody’s face.
