College thanks the public for help with car donations

West Nottinghamshire College's engineering tutors are praising locals for a '˜wonderful response' from the public to donate their old cars or car-sized vans to be worked on by students learning motor vehicle engineering at the college's Kirkby-in-Ashfield campus.

Dave Rymell, engineering tutor, said: “Our motor vehicle students constantly need different vehicles to work on and when we put the call out a few months ago offering a local collection service of vehicles no longer needed, we had such a wonderful response.

“We’ve had 14 cars to date and we’re happy to take more.

Students from entry level through to level four all need practice on the workings of different engines, exhaust systems and suspension systems.

“It’s a win-win situation as we get to use a car right up until its life’s end and we are helping someone to dispose of a vehicle they no longer use.”

If you have a vehicle you could donate, please contact Dave Rymell on 01623 627191 or email [email protected]
