Their combined musical might raised £2,000 for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Service.

The charity’s voluntary fund-raiser Sue Curtis attended a choir rehearsal at Bestwood Village Social Club and accepted a cheque which was presented by the choir’s Chairman Colin Pursglove and Musical Director Mirek Rus.

Since its inception in 1952 the choir has raised thousands for good causes and Mr Rus applauded everyone who has supported them.

He said: “This year’s concert was a triumph of teamwork. Our singers and the RAF band were on top form and the outcome has provided a tremendous boost for a great cause.”

In a thank-you speech Mrs Curtis emphasised the importance of keeping the Air Ambulance Service going.

She said: “Despite the expense it is imperative that the funding for our charity keeps coming in as many lives are saved every day by our dedicated team.”
