Cheers as Yorkshire toasts its best boozers bar none

THE search for Yorkshire’s favourite pub is almost over.

The finalists have been announced for Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2014 following voting by thousands of people.

These final 10 pubs will now battle it out for the title which will be announced at the Great Yorkshire Show this July.

The competition, run by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire with support from The Yorkshire Post, saw the public nominate in their thousands – with more than 750 different pubs nominated and over 5,000 votes cast.

People are now being invited to vote for which of these 10 pubs they think is Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2014.

The competition aims to promote the huge variety of pubs Yorkshire has to offer. The top 30 will also all feature in a new Ale Trail leaflet being produced by Welcome to Yorkshire for locals and visitors.

The final 10 pubs are: Buck Inn, Maunby, Thirsk; Bull Inn, West Tanfield; Chemic Tavern, Leeds; Durham Ox, Crayke, York; Forrester’s Arms, Carlton-in-Coverdale; Hemelvaart Bier Café, Aiskew, Bedale; Marine Bar, Bridlington; Royal Oak, Ripon; Shibden Mill Inn, Halifax, and The Woolly Sheep, Skipton.
