Check weather and travel issues for Bank Holiday weekend

If you are heading out this Bank Holiday you may want to keep an eye on the weather and what’s happening on the roads.

The outlook for Saturday to Monday is: Northern and eastern areas should remain fine on Saturday, but it will become wet and breezy elsewhere. Rain will reach most parts on Sunday. Sunshine and showers developing on Monday.

There are major road works on the M6 in Birmingham, the M1 in Bedfordshire and the M40 in Oxfordshire.

There is a 24-hour strike by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union which will affect East Coast trains on Bank Holiday Monday.

If your rail station connects to London then be aware that Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East will be closed over the long weekend.

Severe delays expected on West Coast services between Birmingham and Wolverhampton and Crewe and Wigan. Line into London Liverpool Street will be shut on Sunday and Monday.
