Charity walk for Jessica

A young Pleasley charity fundraiser will be putting her best foot forward next month to raise cash for a children’s hospice.

Nine-year-old Jessica Clarkson is planning to complete a 15-mile sponsored walk on Sunday 23rd March to raise cash for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice.

The Anthony Bek Primary School pupil hopes to raise £500 from the sponsored walk, which will begin from her Pleasley home and take a circular route through Mansfield.

Last year Chad reported how Jessica took part in a sponsored silence with other pupils from her school, and raised £470 for the special care baby unit at Sutton’s King’s Mill Hospital.

Mum Julie (42), who also works at Anthony Bek will be accompanying her daughter along the route.

So far the charitable youngster has raised £380 for the Loughborough-based hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting illnesses, and hopes to break her £500 target through donations on the day.

“She came up with this idea all by herself ,” said Julie.

“I just feel so humbled that a little girl of nine could decide to do something so wonderful, especially as it’s my little girl.

“She’s always doing things to help other people. She loves it and I’m so very proud of her.” She’s amazing.”
