Charity fun run needs business help

A charity set up to tackle poverty in Shirebrook is organising a 5K fun run and needs help from businesses.

The race, which will take place on 5th July, is being arranged with help from Shirebrook Academy.

The Welfare Foundation needs companies to sponsor the event and to offer services such as legal advice, printing services, stationery and office supplies, tents and marquees.

Toni Nussey, Welfare Foundation secretary, said: “We just need any company that thinks it can help us in anyway with the fun run to come forward and offer its services.

“This event will bring in thousands of pounds for local charities and we really need the local Mansfield community to rally around and help make it happen.”

The fun run is open to all ages and a £10 will be charged. Serious runners will start first on the day, with those taking part in fancy dress following.

Said Toni: “We will see how this one goes first then hopefully make it our own event in future with a fun day and not just the run.

“We hope this will play a big part in relieving poverty in the local area.”

All proceeds will go towards dementia charity Brace, Jerry Green Dog rescue, John Eastwood Hospice, mental health charity Rethink, the Children’s Society and food poverty charity the Trussel Trust.
