Changes to Ashfield council cabinet
Ashfield District councillor Kier Barsby, a member for Sutton East, has resigned from the Labour party and the council’s cabinet.
He has become an independent non-aligned member of the council.
The leader of the council, Coun Chris Baron, has appointed Coun Jim Aspinall to the cabinet, as portfolio holder for Prosperity, a new portfolio covering health and well-being and regeneration.
Coun Baron said Coun Barsby stood down for family reasons.
Any further changes to the membership of committees to take account of adjustments for the political balance requirements is a council decision and will be considered at the next council meeting.
