The mascot days are run by Mansfield Town Football in the Community scheme and give children the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the club, meet the players on match day, and to lead the team onto the pitch.

Cerys said: “I have been playing football for about five, nearly six years now.

“The best part is meeting other people and playing with them on all of the different pitches.

“It’s a lot of fun and my Dad likes football too.

“I was very surprised to win this. I didn’t know why I had been called out, it’s amazing.

On a scale of one to ten, this is a ten.”

Louise Hamby, of Teachers UK, said: “We have lots of nominations for the award, but the nomination from Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy really stood out to us.

She is clearly an inspirational young lady.”
