Cerys scores a winner with mascot day at the Stags

Football loving Cerys Racher was in for an extra special surprise in the last week of term at Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy when Teachers UK awarded her a full mascot day at Mansfield Town FC.

The mascot days are run by Mansfield Town Football in the Community scheme and give children the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the club, meet the players on match day, and to lead the team onto the pitch.

Cerys said: “I have been playing football for about five, nearly six years now.

“The best part is meeting other people and playing with them on all of the different pitches.

“It’s a lot of fun and my Dad likes football too.

“I was very surprised to win this. I didn’t know why I had been called out, it’s amazing.

On a scale of one to ten, this is a ten.”

Louise Hamby, of Teachers UK, said: “We have lots of nominations for the award, but the nomination from Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy really stood out to us.

She is clearly an inspirational young lady.”
