Center Parcs set for fifth resort

Ollerton-based holiday giant Center Parcs is well on track to completing the build of its fifth UK resort.

Accommodation at the 365-acre Center Parcs Village in Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire, with a state-of-the-art Subtropical Swimming Paradise will come in the form of 625 lodges and a 75-bedroom hotel.

The £250m development is set for completion in Spring 2014.

David Stevenson of Edmond Shipway, the construction consultants charged with overseeing the massive project, said: “The new village is really beginning to take shape and we are delighted with the progress so far.

“It is undoubtedly going to be the jewel in the crown of the Center Parcs portfolio of leisure facilities in the UK.”

The project is being created with guests at the heart of the design and will see the accommodation in the executive lodges designed in an inverted style, with the living room on the first floor to allow for a panoramic view of the forest.

There will also be six spa suites, a 17,000 sqm squared lake in the heart of the village and seven miles of roadways.

The site’s creation has also meant the diversion of 1,800m of public rights of way and the conversion of two junctions into roundabouts.
