Celebration ends badly for drink driver

A Sutton father could be facing jail time after admitting being caught driving nearly three times over the legal alcohol limit.

Mansfield magistrates were told how Mathew Pemberton (33), of Boarhill Grove, had been hosting a party at his house when he drove to a local shop for more alcohol.

Robert Carr, prosecuting, said Pemberton had consumed five-six pints of lager at the party celebrating his daughter’s school prom.

Mark Stocks, defending, said Pemberton was already serving a suspended prison sentence when the offence was committed. A legal advisor said any decision about the sentence’s activation would have to be made at Nottingham Crown Court.

He was bailed to attend there on 10th September.
