“I think it’s amazing to have six finalists. They are all winners already!

“They have had a record number of nominations this year - so to have that many from one home is amazing. We are all really proud. It’s quite an achievement.”

Admin manager Jane Taylor (46) was up for the ancillary staff award. Lianne Elvidge (32) was in the running for the activity coordinator award and is also a finalist in the National Care Awards. The winners will be announced next week. Both cooks Rachel Melia (42) and Karren Cheriton (50) were finalists for the nutrition and hydration award. Care assistant Barbara Pigeon (71) was up for two awards: the care-worker award and outstanding contribution to social care.

The finalists attended a ceremony at Nottingham Conference Centre on Friday night where Britain’s Got Talent dance team Stavros Flatley provided the entertainment and proceedings were compered by Steve Walls.
