A SPATE of caravan thefts has prompted police to issue a warning on securing property.

A white Swift Cappuccino caravan was stolen from a storage facility in Seventh Avenue, Clipstone, overnight on Wednesday 27th March.

A Swift Freestyle twin axle caravan with a sprit body was taken from Gorsethorpe Lane in Old Clipstone, during the night on Saturday 6th April.

A third caravan, a 24-foot Abbey Spectrum in white with red stripes down the side, was taken over the weekend of 12th to 14th April from Westbrook Drive, Rainworth.

Police say that owners should protect their property by making sure the windows and doors are kept secure and anti-theft devices are in use.

Roy Samuel, Local Intelligence Officer at Mansfield, said: “We recommend you use tow ball locks, wheel clamps and a tracker device. If possible also connect your caravan to a fixed object with a reinforced chain. A combination of the devices will provide an even bigger deterrent for would-be thieves.

“Caravans are worth thousands of pounds so spending a few pounds on security is really value for money.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the caravans or if they saw something unusual can call police in Mansfield on 101.
