Car wash in aid of school’s gardening area

They are all part of a 12-week Prince’s Trust personal development programme for unemployed and under-achieving 16-25 year-olds.

The fundraising is part of a project to improve the garden area at Mansfield’s King Edwards Primary School to enable children to learn and play in a safe environment.

Alicia Buchanan, Princes trust team leader, said the project was a good way of getting young people into work and education.

She added: “A lot of the work we do is putting young people in the public eye - so we are trying to change the reputations that young people have by showing they do things for the community.

“They will come out of this with a qualification in teamwork, employment skills and community skills.”

The car wash is one of a number of fundraisers to help pay for benches, fencing and flower beds at the school.

Once enough cash has been gathered the hardworking group will dedicate their time and labour to undertaking the work itself.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service.

The Prince’s Trust works with 13 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

So if your car could do with a spruce-up and you would like to help two good causes Prince’s Trust Team 22 will be at Mansfield Fire Station, Rosemary Street, tomorrow from 10am-3pm.

They will be charging £3.50 for cars and £5 for vans.
