Ms Criado-Perez said that women who will suffer most in a Post-Brexit economic downturn, going without if family finances are hit.

She added: “Women voted for a better future for themselves and their children. This Blokes’ Brexit gives us the opposite. It has nothing to say about our rights, our jobs, or the services we rely on.

“But it’s not over yet. There is still time to put a stop to this. In this centenary year, 100 years since women first won the right to vote in this country, women deserve a say in the most important political issue of our lifetimes

“The history of Nottinghamshire is rich with pioneering women like Caroline Weinberg, who in 1924 became the first woman to become a justice of the Peace, Freda James, one of the greatest international tennis stars of the 1930s, and Ada Lovelace, who is widely credited as the world’s first computer programmer.
