Hundreds of job seekers flocked to Kirkby on Friday, with an employment fair held at the Festival Hall.
Organised between Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero and the Jobcentre, employment and training opportunities were on offer from dozens of businesses who had set up stands in the hall.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural fair, Ms De Piero was again thrilled at the turnout.
She said: “It shows there’s an appetite for it, which is great - they were queueing out the door to get in.
“There are a lot of people out of work, and if we can help to these job vacancies filled, it’s something all MPs should be helping to do.”
Tim Brown, of the Department for Work and Pensions, said: “There’s nothing simpler than putting an unemployed person with someone looking to recruit.
“These people are here because they want to find work, so we welcome this.”
Vacancies that are being filled range from apprenticeships to graduate roles to full and part time jobs that will suit people of different ages and with different job experience.
