A Mansfield shop has quashed rumours that Spice Girl Victoria Beckham had ordered a jacket from their store.
Stories circulated that the famous fashionista was after a jacket stocked by W Slack and Sons on Rosemary Street.
It was claimed that coat manufacturers Canada Goose had contacted proprietor, John Slack, on Thursday to inquire if they stocked a £749 winter parka jacket in extra small for the singer.
But the shop owner has since u-turned claiming it simply a ‘hoax’ coinciding with the so-called ‘Black Friday’, when shoppers across Britain rushed to snap up pre-Christmas bargains.
Mr Slack said: “We’ve been getting a lot of hassle from this so as far as we’re concerned it’s a hoax.
“It’s a complete fabrication.”
Mr Slack did not want to add any further comments.
Trading since 1902, W Slack and Sons is a family-run independent business which stocks outdoor clothing and footwear.
