MANSFIELD MP Sir Alan Meale has visited an employment project which helps local residents find work and training.
The Family Employment Initiative’s Job Surf scheme is run from Warsop Town Hall and supports people living in Warsop, Meden Vale, Clipstone, Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse and parts of Ashfield.
Sir Alan dropped in to see how the project offers free information and guidance on a wide range of topics – from training to more personal issues like health, housing and finance.
The service has already helped nearly 500 people into work across Nottinghamshire with the help of a friendly and informal setting.
Sir Alan said: “The project is first class, and is helping hundreds of local people build up their skills to get a job and keep it.
“The really great thing about this project is its friendly approach and high results - which includes many cases of people who have fallen through the safety nets designed to either help people into work and/or keep them there.”
The community-focused project is devised by national charity the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of former coalfields residents.
