The Chad is celebrating today after reporter Helen Beighton scooped a top award at the annual ceremony hosted by its parent company Johnston Press.
Helen Beighton was runner up in the Weekly Journalist Of The Year category at the awards night, held in Leeds on Thursday night.
Ashley Highfield, CEO of Johnston Press, hosted the awards with help from other managers.
More than 170 people attended the ceremony last night, with awards in 44 categories, at Oulton Hall Hotel.
Chad editor Phil Bramley said: “We’re really proud of Helen’s achievement to be named as one of the best reporters out of all the Johnston Press weekly titles across Great Britain.
“She’s a great journalist who gets to the heart of the local community and the stories that matter to our readers.”
Helen added: “I am really proud to have received this award as there must have been dozens of reporters from up and down the country who would have been worthy winners.
“I would also add that any award won by any member of the Chad editorial department is an award for the whole team, as we all support and rely on each other in order to produce news and sport content day in, day out.
“It is thanks to the hard work of everybody here that we have won this recognition of the quality of our work.”
