Bus tours launched by Tourism group

Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group launch their summer bus tours next week.

Thanks to the financial support from Hucknall’s County Councillors and sponsorship from businesses, the tours can go-ahead again offering residents and visitors trips to take in the tourist hot-spots and sights of interest.

“The tours are very popular and despite the advice that bookings will not be taken until 1st April, we are already having telephone enquiries,” said group treasurer, Sheila Robinson. “Last year every bus was full and we are expecting nothing less this year.”

Route 1: Start at Hucknall Market Place, proceed to Bestwood Winding House, then to Griffins Head for refreshment break, then on to Annesley Old Church before returning via Newthorpe, Moor Green and Watnall to Hucknall Market Place. Approx 3 hours

Route 2A: Set off from Hucknall Market Place and proceed to St Michael’s Church in Linby, then on the Newstead Abbey for a refreshment break, then on to Papplewick Pumping Station, and finally back to Hucknall Market Place. Approx 3 hours

Route 2B: Leave Hucknall Market Place and proceed directly to Rolls Royce Heritage Museum, on leaving go to Newstead Abbey for a refreshment break before returning via St Michael’s Church in Linby to Hucknall Market Place. Approx 3 hours

Route 4: Talk and Tour at St Mary Magdalene’s Church before leaving the Market Place in Hucknall and heading to All Saints Church in Annesley. We then leave All Saints and proceed to Annesley Old Church site before moving to Beauvale Priory where we have lunch. After lunch we proceed to St Mary’s Church in Greasley and then on to St John’s Church in Nottingham Road, Hucknall before returning to Hucknall Market Place. £5 charge for lunch payable at time of booking. Approx 6.5 hours

Route 5: Leave Hucknall Market Place and head to Victoria Street in Eastwood where we visit the birthplace of D H Lawrence. After a talk and tour, we move to Durban House in Eastwood where refreshments will be provided and a look around the museum. Return to Hucknall via Moorgreen and Watnall. £5 charge for guided tour and museum visit which includes tea/coffee and biscuits is payable at time of booking. Approx 3 hours.
