Bus stops repeatedly attacked

Two bus stops in Pleasley were targeted at least four times in repeat vandalism attacks last month.

Panels costing £200 each are being removed and cracked by hooligans at the waiting areas on either side of the A617 near the big roundabout on the way to Glapwell

Brian Carnall, clerk at Pleasley Parish Council, said: “Whenever we have any damage we immediately get someone to repair them.

“We have had a quotation to have solid metal panels put in costing approximately £2,400.

“Another option would be CCTV cameras but they would need to be mounted high to avoid having them stolen, which would be very expensive.”

Mr Carnall said police had told him the chances of catching the vandals were also slim as the area was so sparsely populated.
