Luke Holmes, 22, of Devonshire Drive, Langwith, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Mansfield court on Wednesday.

A breath test on July 31 revealed he had 69 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The court heard he drank three pints and some vodka before setting off to get some food from MacDonalds, but he lost control when making a tight right turn on Coggins Lane.

Sarah Neale, mitigating, said Holmes did not feel under the influence and would not have driven if he had.

She said he worked as a painter and decorator, but had suffered health problems which had lately made him depressed.

He was fined £260 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He was banned for 17 months.
