Bus, ambulance and car involved in pile-up

A bus, ambulance and a car were involved in a pile-up near Bulwell this afternoon which left four people trapped.

Three people had to be cut free from the wreckages on Highbury Road following the collision shortly before 1pm.

The bus involved was reported to be a Nottingham City Transport Yellow Line 68, which had about 25 passengers on board.

Crews from Stockhill Fire Station and specialist rescue units were called to the scene.

The bus company said that the bus had been stationary at the time and passengers were stepping onto the vehicle from the bus stop.

One was left in the care of East Midland Ambulance Service.

The road was closed between Kersall Drive and Saxondale Drive and traffic was being diverted.
