Police are calling for vigilance after a series of burglaries in Ashfield North over the bank holiday weekend.
Burglars forced entry into six houses in Annesley, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Jacksdale between Saturday 4th May and Monday 6 May, most while the residents were out or away on holiday.
Det Insp Rich Monk, of Mansfield CID, said: “If you are going on holiday this summer, make sure you tell neighbours you trust so that they can keep an eye on your house.
“Install a burglar alarm and use it. Put lights on timers.
“Ask relatives to help make your home look lived in while you are away. Ask them to bring in your bin and collect your mail, not just from the letter box but also from where it lands at the foot of your door.
“Report suspicious activity and individuals to police immediately. If you notice something out of the ordinary in your street, and especially around the homes of those neighbours who you know are away, call us.”
If you have any information about the recent burglary spate contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
