Bulwell girl aiming for television stardom
Ellie Grainger, of Bean Close,Hempshill Vale, was first talent-spotted by Ian Smith of Central Television’s Drama Workshop during a visit to Hempshill Hall Primary School where the youngster is a pupil.
Mr Smith, in collaboration with headteacher Helen Ridge, assessed the acting qualities of certain youngsters at the school and picked out Ellie as a girl with potential.

Hide AdMuch to Ellie’s delight she was invited to attend auditions and made such an impression that she was offered a part in Coronation Street, playing the role of Maisie, the Granddaughter of the stricken Hayley.
With that initial experience tucked under her belt Ellie was chosen to appear in two episodes of the 1920’s period drama The Village, playing alongsides leading performers John Simm and Maxine Peake in the role of Mary Middleton.
Ellie’s taste of television stardom took her to Manchester for the Coronation Street filming while the Palace Hotel in Buxton was the venue for the filming of The Village.
The young actress’ proud parents Danny and Kerry Grainger are in no doubt that their daughters’s ambition of becoming an actress will be fulfilled.

Hide Ad“She is very determined and has enjoyed the experience so much that she is keen to continue making her mark,” Said Danny.
Ellie’s Headteacher Helen Ridge said: “She is a lovely girl with so much talent. I’ve no doubt that she can go on to achieve whatever she sets her sights on.”
Ian Smith who is the Workshop Leader at Central T.V’s drama classes said: “ Ellie is just one of many rising stars who attend our classes. She has made a good impression and has the potential to build upon her experiences.”
